13 finalists to compete in Future Chef culinary showdown

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Thirteen Lexington Two students have cooked their way into the finals next month of the 10h Annual Future Chef competition.

 

Nearly 200 recipes, themed to “reimagined” school lunch dishes, were submitted, from which a panel of judges selected 13 finalists. The winning third-, fourth-, and fifth-graders will now go on to represent their schools in the finals, set for March 12.

The finalists and their schools are:

 

Cayce Elementary: Jaiya Johns 

Congaree Elementary: Daniah Hart, Harrington Lowman

Riverbank Elementary: Maddox Ashley, Sadie Roberts, Christopher Webb

Saluda River Academy for the Arts: Peyton Durrett, Anthony Ramirez Rico

Springdale Elementary: James Baldwin, Colden Pumphrey, Jayden Taber

Wood Elementary: Isabella Szczechowski, Alexis Wiggins

 

The March 12 cook-off begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Lexington Two Innovation Center, 509 Bulldog Blvd., Cayce.

 

The winner of the culinary showdown will go on to represent Lexington Two at the statewide, district-level competition.
