Dear Parents:
Lexington School District Two elementary schools will be administering two tests to second-grade students over five days in October. The purpose of this testing is to identify students
who qualify for the academically gifted and talented program. The school will be administering the Iowa Test and the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test).
The Iowa will provide achievement information in the areas of reading and math. The CogAT provides an aptitude indicator that provides information related to the student’s
ability to reason verbally, quantitatively, and nonverbally. The CogAT is not an IQ test, but rather an indicator of the student’s potential for future achievement.
