Celebrating 3 Years of the Dual Language Immersion Program

Riverbank Elementary School is proudly celebrating its third class of students participating in the district’s Two-Way Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program.

The district-wide program, based at Riverbank, was first piloted in the 2024-2025 school year with just kindergarten students, and a new grade level added each year. Today, there are Dual Language Immersion classes in kindergarten, first, and second grade students.

This year’s class represents another exciting milestone in Riverbank Elementary’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to develop bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism. Through the DLI program, students receive academic instruction for half of the school day in English and the other half in Spanish, building valuable language skills that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Over time, students in this program will gain proficiency in both languages, equipping them with valuable skills for a global society.

Riverbank Elementary looks forward to celebrating the continued growth and success of the district’s Dual Language Immersion program and the students who are helping shape its future.
